For more than 30 years, I have worked at the intersection of leadership, preparedness, crisis management, and prevention.

Today, my mission is simple: help leaders recognize risks early, strengthen organizational culture, and build environments where people can thrive safely.

I believe the most effective security strategy is not response—it is prevention.

Throughout my career as a U.S. Air Force officer, FBI Special Agent, crisis manager, instructor, consultant, and author, I have learned that major crises rarely emerge without warning. The challenge is not a lack of indicators; it is the ability of leaders and organizations to recognize them, understand them, and act before circumstances require it.

This philosophy has become the foundation of my work in Prevention Leadership—the practice of seeing what others miss, addressing vulnerabilities before they become liabilities, and creating a culture of preparedness that empowers people rather than frightens them.

As Founder of TBR Consulting, I provide security assessments, emergency preparedness planning, crisis management consulting, workplace violence prevention strategies, and leadership guidance to organizations seeking practical, actionable solutions.

As Senior Principal with the Active Shooter Prevention Project (ASPP), I work alongside an extraordinary team of experts helping schools, businesses, healthcare organizations, government agencies, and communities strengthen prevention, preparedness, and resilience.

My experience includes:

• 20 years as a Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation

• 10 years as a U.S. Air Force officer

• Certified crisis manager and instructor

• Court-designated expert in school emergency drills

• National speaker on prevention, preparedness, leadership, and organizational resilience

• Co-author of School Safety: A Practical and Tactical Resource Guide for Administrators

I have a BS in physics from Ohio University, and a MA in organizational management from the University of Phoenix. I am a proud Eagle Scout and Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow. 

I am a lifetime member of the FBI Agents Association, a Gunsite graduate and member of the American Warrior Society.
